AEW’s Darby Allen qualifies for the Owen Hart Cup on Rampage

AEW Rampage started with a big Owen Hart Cup qualifier match between Swerve and Darby Allin, and they would have shut it down immediately but quickly broke it. They were testing each other a bit, with Darby flexing his speed and Swerve swaying, then locking Allen into a fist on his wrist. Swerve will show his own speed later but after Allin pulls the lever in another hold Swerve is on the ground. Swerve was following Allin out but then hit an amazing stunt and went to cover Swerve but was sent off.

Swerve will come back with vengeance and hit Allen hard on the ground and then hit Allen with a heavy blow, knocking him back to the ground. He then put Allen back in the ring and hit a kick from the top rope into Allen’s back and then started working on Allen’s shoulder and arm.

Swerve wasn’t letting control out of his grasp, putting Allen back on the podium and then climbing to the top, but he would miss, giving Allen time to fly over him and then set off on a Code Red game, but Swerve started off with a pin attempt. Allin climbed to the top and went to Coffin Drop, but Swerve raised his knees, although he also injured his painful knee. He hit a jump kick on Allen’s head and went for cover, but Allen reached out and grabbed the rope to break the count.

Swerve then picked up Allen and held him for a minute before jumping off the arena and knocking Allen to the ground. Ricky Starks went to participate but Sting cut him off and sent him back to the commentary booth. Swerve got back inside but Allin hit back and managed to grip Swerve’s legs long enough to get the pin and win. Starks was very happy with everything. Darby now joins Samoa Joe, Kyle O’Reilly, Adam Cole and Dax Harwood in the Men’s Owen Hart Cup.
